Open Question: 12 String Guitar? ?
Hey, I just got a 12 string guitar and i was wondering, since i have never played a guitar, will it be harder to learn than a 6 string? Also i got a guitar beginner book and just realized it is for a 6 string guitar, so when i learn the notes do i just hold together the two strings, to get ther sound of the one string? for example to play F first string first fret do i hold both strings down, or just the thicker string?
I dont know if this matters, but it is a electric acoustic guitar.

i like black sabbath, guns n roses, and iron maiden, but i also like albert hammond, the beatles, and paul simon. (among others) what are some good songs for me to learn? specifically for the electric guitar preferably
Open Question: Guitar lessons or Self teach?
Hi, my sister has a guitar that i played once when i was bored and became obsessed with it. Five days ago, I bought myself my own guitar at a pawn shop and have been practicing 2-4 hours every day. I’ve been working on this once song and only learned like half of it in this time. My mom said I spent at least 20 hours learning. I’ve also been playing the violin for 5 years so I know what all the scales sound like and what most notes sound like. So far I only know the C-scale, 1/2 of a song, and a little sight reading. My mom offered to buy me lessons once a week, but I’m not sure. I mean, I can learn all the scales eventually (It took me only like 5 minutes to learn C-scale). I have a plan that I’m going to learn a new scale everyday and then move onto chords. Basically I want to know, will I advance further with lessons or self-teaching? I know a lot about music because I can play violin so… I’m not sure. 20 hours is 20 lessons. Could i have learned more in 20 lessons? What should I do?
Open Question: help please with getting back with ex?
so its complicated. my ex dumped me back in july. for no reason at all. it was horrible. exploded at me on facebook. haven’t seen her for weeks. said it was because of all of these little mistakes i’ve done that i never fixed that i would have gladly fixed had she told me. after that she has been ignoring me. and i’ve been trying to win her heart back. how sad. :’( now please don’t tell me to get another girl. because this is the one. but i think this is it. homecoming is coming. haha get it. no. anyways. our school has these pep rally’s in the gym during homecoming week. and i plan on singing her a song in front of the whole school! 
(i learned the guitar and started singing after the breakup to try and deal with it). dont worry. i wont make a fool out of myself. at least the way you think i will. i’m a natural talent when it comes to music.
but will i make a fool out of myself for just singing her a song in front of everybody?
and if you don’t htink so can you anwer this? what do you think? our song: I will follow you into the dark, or collide by howie day?

ive been playing for about 7 months and im about an intermediate i know all the chords i can read tabs etc. i can play all of stairway to heaven if that gives u an example of where im at.i play alotta rock and metal. any suggestions?
Open Question: Should I learn piano or guitar?
Okay I want to learn either piano or guitar. Problem is I don’t have a very good memory or quick fingers. I’ve tried guitar and always fail miserably. I do like piano music better but I’ve already bought like a 300$ guitar with my own money and can’t get a keyboard. Which is easier and what is more fun? Piano or guitar?

Open Question: starting band and instrument question?
i was thinking of starting a band, with my freinds we are in high school. we got the singer , drums and bass covered but i dunno how to play guitar. aaaaaaahhhhhhhh
wat instument should i learn the bass player could be replaced with me instead so. lessons cost nothin for me becuase my uncle can teach me?
any ideas? anything is great.
Open Question: Would you recommend the drums?
I’m 16 and I feel like doing something with my life. playing an instrument has always intrigued me. my older brother is teaching himself to play guitar, however I’ve always been fascinated with the drums. As an experienced drum players, would you recommend learning the drums. also, how hard would you say it is to learn, and how long did it take you.
Open Question: learning to play the banjo?
Im interested in learning how to play the banjo, i think its such a cool instrument and i love its sound.
my question is, is it easy to pick up the banjo after being a guitar player for 4 years? or is it a completely different instrument?
