Rockstarist – Musicians resources

in fl studio can you record your own lyrics over a beat? if so, is it good quality, and is it easy? also would fl studio work good on a normal hp or lenovo computer or would i have to have a special music computer. it can be something besides hp and lenovo those are just examples, i just need to know if i need a special computer?

I'm looking for music production software that is fairly easy to use for a beginner, but can be powerful enough to create top quality tracks with experience. I have used garage band in the past, and I loved it. But that was on a school owned mac, and was 3 or 4 years ago... I'm on windows 7 pro now, and cant find anything similar. I have FL studio 9 on my pc now, but I dont really like the interface or the complexity of some of its features, and im looking for something a bit less complex. I've also used Sony Acid in the past, but for audio editing and voice recording, i never used it for music production. So, which program for windows would you recommend me?

I just bought the Asylum album from Disturbed and I have noticed that the song I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For (ISHFWILF) as it's listed, has absolute silence at the beginning for about a minute and thirty-two seconds. I have no clue as to why bands or recording studios would do this intentionally. I mainly just find it annoying when this happens at the start rather than the end, but also in general. Does anyone know why they allow this?

im trying to record but i dont have midi. i have cakewalk sonar home studio 4 and im about to get mixcraft. how can irecord my music without midi

I have a Dell Studio XPS Laptop with a built in webcam and microphone. Unfortunately I can't get the microphone to work. I went into recording devices and the bar next to one of the mic's keeps moving up when it hears a sound as if it is working, but whenever I try to use speech recognition or sound recorder I can't get the mic to pick up my voice, let alone anything... As if it's not even there other than the fact that it visually shows me it recognizes sounds under recording devices in the control panel. Help please!

As part of an effort on my part to get the musicians from R&P to record and share their work, I have been doing a monthly post for musicians. Look for one of these questions on the first of each month. I've been doing these for over a year now. Here are my recordings for the month: http://wireandstring.bandcamp.com/album/september-2010 I've had a really busy month, went on vacation, built and raced a cardboard boat, and havent been able to get much time in the studio. So this recording was done during the road trip portion of my vacation, pocket recorder and a ukelele at a state park campsite. It is sloppy and I messed up the lyrics. But it has a certain charm with all the bugs making noises in the background and such, so I thought I would post it anyway. MQ: Musicians: would you post some of your current projects? Everyone else: would you mind having a listen and offering any constructive criticism? @mr. natfaz- you can post covers if you like. in the past, covers tend to not get as much feedback from people as originals on this question series. except in the case of covers where you come up with your own arrangment. @shotgun- that is really a fantastic cover of no sun no fun. much enjoyment from this end. happy to see you two followed through on the talk of some sort of a mutual project also. get up is just fun. i havent wore shoes for close to a month= great lyric. "bleach boy" is great, i dig the surf sound. and i have to admit that i like your somewhat softer edged production on this one compared to what you normally do. very accessible. "waste my time" was great too. i liked the balance between the sparse guitar intro and the full arrangement later on. i couldnt get the ghost coast songs to play. they seem to lock up my media player.

is it honestly something to do with the economy or do the record companies just not like whats being made in the studios? jojo hasnt had a new album since like 07? her new album keeps getting pushed back, jennifer lopez left her record company cuz they didnt like what she was recording in the studio, cassie hasnt come out with an official date for conneticut fever, so is it that the music isnt good enough or do record companies just not want to spend on stuff they feel wont sell?

Well,when im adding videos to youtube,like some kind of game walkthroughs i want to audio to be there. Cam Studio recorder is great,but its not recording audio.There is a option to record from speakers,but its not working. BTW:Im not interested in some trial recorders,i want a full free recorder.

studio recording for me. i prefer the perfection in the bands music rather than witnessing them try to recreate that perfection... plus oi can listen to it at a volume that doesn't hurt my ears. the emotions or whatever people say about live music don't matter to me. to me music is all about art. to me i just try to appreciate the painting i don't wanna watch somebody try to repaint a perfect picture. i rarely go to concerts. the only thing that inspires me to go to concerts is to occasionally meet a person and always to see a good crowd reaction. if i see a mosh pit that makes me glad i went. or to see a thousand people bounce rhythmically to a catchy beat.. it just puts a big grin on my face. i always watch the crowd more than the band. do you ever do this?

I just bought a hauppauge HD PVR to record my video games and post it to youtube. It captures fine in .mp4 but when I try and edit with with Pinnacle Studio 14 hd the playback is choppy and the sound is off by two or three seconds. I do not want to do any fancy editing. Just cut to the beginning of my game and do voice overs. If you can help please do so.
